Flaura & Fauna Kaziranga

Alluvial savanna woodlands, tropical moist mixed deciduous forests, and tropical semi-evergreen forests.

The flora of Kaziranga is marked by four types of vegetation – alluvial inundated grasslands, alluvial savanna woodlands, tropical moist mixed deciduous forests, and tropical semi-evergreen forests. The western reaches are covered by tall elephant grass while short grass covers the lower grounds. Bombax or silk cotton trees are seen in abundance here and are used for making pillows. The woodland of Kaziranga is divided into three main types – Riparian Fringing Forest, Dillenia Swamp Forest and Assam Alluvial Plains Semi-evergreen Forest. Different aquatic floras are present in the lakes and ponds along the river shores. The invasive water hyacinth chokes the water bodies but they are cleared during the floods. resort in kaziranga
